What is Craniosacral Therapy? Gentle Nervous System Healing in Lake Oswego & Portland
If you’ve spent years trying to ease pain, fatigue, or nervous system dysregulation — but focusing on symptoms hasn’t brought lasting relief — it may be time to look deeper. Not just at structure, but at how your nervous system holds tension.
If the nervous system is constantly in survival mode, the body can’t heal.
⸻
What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on therapy that focuses on the fascial system, connective tissues, and the rhythms of your craniosacral system. Through very light touch, the practitioner listens to subtle motion in your body and supports your nervous system to release tension and restore balance.
Craniosacral Therapy is a deep LISTENING. In a typical session, you’ll lie fully clothed on a warm massage table. These sessions consist of VERY GENTLE bodywork designed to restore balance to the nervous system, and give it space to release anything that needs to come out.
Ultimately, Craniosacral therapy creates space for change to happen in the body. Sessions allow you to drop into your parasympathetic nervous system INSTANTLY, so you can get out of “fight or flight” mode and start to SLOW DOWN.
⸻
How It Works
• You lie fully clothed on a warm table; the practitioner uses very gentle contact.
• The practitioner tunes into your body’s rhythm — listening to the flow between the cranium (skull) and sacrum (base of spine) and how the fascial tissues respond.
• This subtle work encourages your parasympathetic (rest & digest) nervous system to activate, helping with regulation and healing.
